The Dragon Leatherworks Valkyrie. Worthy of its namesake.
In Norse Mythology, the Valkyrie is a handmaiden to Odin, who's purpose is to bring chosen warriors to Valhalla. Valkyrie's are beautiful, seductive, and bold creatures.
In Feb 2014 we were contacted by the prop master for NCIS and commissioned to create a holster for an upcoming two-part episode set in New Orleans. We were given pretty much free rein, with the only guidance being that it had to be paddle-mounted, with alot of crocodile skin. We set to work locating a suitable paddle, and within a few days settled on using the BlackHawk CQC system. With the hardware selection out of the way, we set to work designing the holster.
After trying a few mock-ups, we settled on the design and set to work building the two holsters that NCIS wanted to purchase. After they were built and we were taking pictures of them, it was obvious to us that we had another winning design in our hands. With the flexibility of colors and exotic skins, coupled with the highest quality hand-crafting, the Valkyrie quickly became our Signature Series holster.
The Signature Series Valkyrie line is available in its base configuration of plain leather, all the way up to Crocodile, Ostrich, or Anaconda snakeskin. For a truly unique holster, we also offer hand-painted Python skin...our premium offering. As with all of our products, there is a wide selection of colors available, along with being able to build it in right or left handed configurations.
As seen on NCIS!
Here are a couple of screen captures of the first of the two-part episode, showing the guest star Scott Bakula wearing the Valkyrie as he gets out of his car, then another as he prepares to draw from concealment in the episode titled Crescent City: Part 1. All of us here at Dragon Leatherworks wish the best for Scott and NCIS, and we're hoping that this gets picked up as the next spin-off NCIS: New Orleans this fall!

Who owns a Dragon Leatherworks Valkyrie?
None other than Jesse James himself, star of the reality shows Monster Garage and West Coast Choppers!
Jesse was kind enough to respond to our request that he autograph a holster for the 2016 Kilted to Kick Cancer fundraiser, and simply asked for a trade...a custom-made Dragon Leatherworks Valkyrie for his own Cisco Triple Black 1911 in return for a signed holster. So we set to work, crafted a holster to his specification, and shipped it out with a holster for his autograph. A few days later, the signed rig was back in our hands, and Jesse was showing off his new crocodile-skinned Valkyrie!
Shown here, the Jesse James custom holster in Saddle Brown Crocodile, with Mahogany dye trim on black base.

Features

- The BlackHawk CQC paddle system allows for easy-on / easy-off of the holster, yet keeps the entire rig stable and secure.
- Oversized paddle provides stability, utilizing a molded-in tooth to grip the pant from the inside.
- Adjustable teeth on the belt cut-out allow for proper fit on dress belts, gun belts, all the way up to 2" duty belts.
- Allows for the proper placement (on the hip) so as to have the most efficient and fastest draw possible.
- BlackHawk CQC system allows swapping out the paddle mount for an optional molded belt loop.

Reviews
"The fit is snug enough that the holster can be inverted and shaken a bit without the pistol falling free, so it's not going to bounce out with any sort of normal activity. Also, it's properly cut to allow the user to achieve a full firing grip on the holstered pistol as part of a proper drawstroke. Heavy leather and good stitching make for a holster that can be handed down. If you're looking for a Sunday-go-to-meetin' holster to showcase your taste in blasters at gatherings with friends, give Dennis a call and he can set you up with a holster you'd be proud to be seen wearing."

"This one is for my Glock 23, and it’s a paddle holster. And it’s soooooo pretty! Carrying in this holster will be fashionable and fun. And it smells like… You know what it smells like? FREEDOM! "

"I’ve been carrying my 1911 in this “Valkyrie” holster for many weeks now. One thing I noticed right away is there was really no break-in time. The holster fit the 1911 well and kept it very secure during carry and daily activities including time at the range. The leather used is a bit thicker than what most are used to seeing which I believe contributes to the good fit. I haven’t noticed the leather stretching after a good deal of use and I attribute this to the thicker leather and the way it’s treated. Heavy thread is used throughout with areas of greater stress double stitched."

"So, one last word about Dennis. Yes, you can probably get a mass-produced Chinese-made holster for a fraction on what one of his cost. I'm still a little freaked out that this is my most expensive "attire". But, you truly get what you pay for. With loving care, this holster will be a legacy. Something to pass down, something that will still be lovely and functional long after I'm not."

"The stitching was flawless, there were no gaps, no place where a piece didn’t match up exactly with it’s mate. I wasn’t expecting to find anything wrong and I didn’t. A fine example of American workmanship from a craftsman that takes pride in his work."

"A custom sample replete with a snakeskin insert and two-tone leather arrived here in the office a few weeks ago, and I finally got through gawking at it long enough to tell you about it. It’s got a Blackhawk CQC paddle to keep it secured to your belt, and Dragon’s custom leather to hold your sidearm steady—and looking sharp, too."
- Jay Grazio of Shooting Illustrated
"My draw was an issue in the first review and I knew then that was my issue with hip holsters, not the holster itself. It ain’t no more. As a matter of fact, I’m kinda diggin’ it now. When you put this holster on, it stays where you put it on and that’s good for muscle memory"
